On 27 October 2026, Desk of Hope International Ministries (DOHIM), in partnership with the Child Marriage Free World Campaign and Just Rights for Children, visited Nyakariro Primary School in Bugangari Sub-county, Rukungiri District, Uganda, as part of preparations for the upcoming 100 Days of Action to End Child Marriage, leading towards 27 November 2026.
The visit was an important opportunity to engage Primary Seven (P7) pupils in meaningful conversations about children’s rights, the value of education, and the importance of protecting every child from child marriage. Through awareness and sensitisation, pupils were encouraged to understand their rights, speak out against harmful practices, and recognise that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and pursue their dreams.
It was encouraging to see many pupils respond positively and pledge to take action against child marriage. Their commitment reflected the importance of empowering children with knowledge and giving them the confidence to become advocates for their own rights and the rights of their peers.
The campaign also brought together teachers, community members, and church leaders, who joined the movement by pledging to protect children and support efforts to end child marriage. Their participation highlighted the important role that families, schools, faith communities, and local leaders play in creating safe environments where children can thrive.
Child marriage continues to threaten children’s education, safety, dignity, and future opportunities. Addressing this challenge requires collective responsibility, continuous community awareness, and a shared commitment to changing harmful attitudes and practices.
As Desk of Hope International Ministries and its partners continue preparing for the 100 Days of Action, we remain committed to raising awareness, promoting children’s rights, strengthening community engagement, and encouraging every stakeholder to play an active role in ending child marriage.
Every child deserves a safe childhood. Every girl deserves an education. No child should be forced into marriage.
Together, let us raise our voices, protect children, keep girls in school, and build communities where every child can live with dignity, hope, and opportunity.
Our commitment remains clear: END CHILD MARRIAGE, PROTECT CHILDREN, AND RESTORE HOPE!
