Day Three of Action: Kazindiro Parents Primary School Joins the Movement to End Child Marriage and Protect Every Child’s Future

On 27 October 2026, Desk of Hope International Ministries (DOHIM), in partnership with the Child Marriage Free World Campaign and Just Rights for Children, continued its school-based awareness and community mobilisation activities at Kazindiro Parents Primary School, a Seventh-day Adventist Church-founded school in Bugangari Sub-county, RukungiriDistrict, Uganda. The visit marked Day Three of DOHIM's preparations for the 100 Days of Action to End Child Marriage, building momentum towards 27 November 2026.

During the engagement, DOHIM interacted with pupils, teachers, and school leaders to raise awareness about children's rights, the dangers and consequences of child marriage, and the importance of keeping children in school. Pupils were encouraged to understand their rights, value education, reject harmful practices, and confidently speak out whenever their safety and well-being are threatened.

A significant highlight of the visit was the commitment demonstrated by the school's leadership. Recognising the important role of faith-based institutions in protecting children and promoting their well-being, the school leaders pledged their support and committed to being part of the collective struggle to end child marriage. Their pledge demonstrated the willingness of faith-based schools and religious institutions to work alongside community organisations in protecting children, promoting education, and challenging harmful cultural practices.

The engagement further emphasised the shared responsibility of parents, teachers, religious leaders, community members, and local authorities in preventing child marriage. DOHIM highlighted that protecting children requires collective action, continuous awareness, and strong partnerships to ensure that every child grows up in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.

As Day Three of the preparations, the visit strengthened the campaign's message that childhood must be protected, education must be prioritised, and no child should be forced into marriage. Through its partnership with the Child Marriage Free World Campaign and Just Rights for Children, DOHIM remains committed to reaching more schools, churches, and communities across Rukungiri District and the greater Kigezi region.

Together, we can create communities where children are protected, girls and boys have equal opportunities to learn, and every young person can grow up with dignity, freedom, and hope.

A child belongs in school, not in marriage. Together, let us protect childhood and build a Child Marriage Free World!
