Rounding Off the 100 Days of Action Preparations: DOHIM Takes the Child Marriage Free World Campaign to Standard Preparatory School and Strengthens the Call to End Child Marriage

DOHIM Concludes Preparations for the 100 Days of Action with a Child Marriage Prevention Campaign at Standard Preparatory School

As Desk of Hope International Ministries (DOHIM), in partnership with the Child Marriage Free World Campaign and Just Rights for Children, approaches the conclusion of its preparations for the 100 Days of Action to End Child Marriage, we remain committed to mobilising schools and communities to stand together in protecting children's rights and ending child marriage.

As part of these final preparation activities, DOHIM visited Standard Preparatory School in Rukungiri District, Uganda, to engage pupils, teachers, and school leadership in meaningful discussions about children's rights, the importance of education, and the need to protect children from child marriage and other harmful practices.

During the visit, pupils were sensitised about the dangers and consequences of child marriage, the importance of staying in school, and their right to enjoy a safe and protected childhood. They were encouraged to speak out against harmful practices, support their fellow children, and remain focused on their education and future aspirations.

The engagement also highlighted the vital role of schools and teachers in preventing child marriage. Schools are not only centres of learning but also important spaces for identifying children at risk, promoting child protection, and creating awareness among young people. DOHIM called upon school leaders, teachers, parents, and community members to work together to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and fulfil their potential.

As we round off our preparations for the 100 Days of Action, we recognise that ending child marriage requires more than awareness campaigns; it requires sustained commitment, strong partnerships, community participation, and collective responsibility. Every school, family, faith institution, and community has a role to play in protecting children.

Through this initiative, DOHIM, together with the Child Marriage Free World Campaign and Just Rights for Children, continues to amplify the message that children deserve education, protection, dignity, and the freedom to pursue their dreams.

A child belongs in school, not in marriage. Together, let us protect childhood, defend children's rights, and build a Child Marriage Free World!
